OSA Victoria’s successful move to a new Port Melbourne facility

New OSA office

Over the past few months, our OSA Victoria team has experienced an exciting business transition. In May 2020, the OSA Victoria branch moved to a larger, purpose-built facility in Port Melbourne.

As a value-added specialist distributor, OSA provides a suite of product related professional services and the 900m2 facility is a fantastic expansion and upgrade to OSA Victoria’s service delivery capabilities.

In addition to the huge warehousing and dedicated trade counter, the new OSA Victoria facility features a purpose-built R&D lab, extensive live product showroom plus conference and training infrastructure allowing OSA Victoria to continue to meet our customers’, partners’ and industry requirements today and into the future.

Port Melbourne location’s
strategic benefits

The thriving technological hub of Port Melbourne has been a great location for OSA and its customers, suppliers and partners since it was initially established in January, 2005. Within a short 3km distance to the CBD and situated at the gateway to all of Melbourne’s vital road transport corridors, it was only natural for the OSA Victoria team to remain in Port Melbourne.

David McKeown, State Manager, says, “Remaining in Port Melbourne was a strategic choice for our business. Over the past 15 years, we have built our business around providing exceptional service and adding value to our customers and suppliers at every opportunity.

Our new facility further enhances our competitive advantage and ensures that we can continue to adapt, scale and keep up with the rapid transformation of technology and industry demands, as required by our customers and the market.”

Key features and customer benefits

OSA’s brand-new facility adds an expanded range of new and exciting features and benefits for our customers, including:

Dedicated trade area: Dedicated warehouse trade counter with direct access to our full range of stock and OSA product specialists.

By expanding both warehouse and showroom sales capacity along with dedicated pickup areas, we have reduced time needed for day-to-day pickups.

With specialised small parts storage, 100+ pallet bays, internal space for container deliveries and a greater range of fibre and copper cable ready to be cut to length. OSA’s Port Melbourne warehouse team can efficiently manage day-to-day and projects of any size and scale.

R&D laboratory: With secure network prestaging resources, the newest OSA R&D lab provides dedicated facilities for the design, implementation, testing and pre-provisioning of complex technical solutions in networking, wireless, surveillance, cellular, GPON and G. FAST technologies. After the initial design phase, solutions can be pre-configured and bench-tested before leaving the building with confidence and minimal downtime, whether it is a greenfield solution or a complex infrastructure upgrade.

Different items inside a showroom

Active Technology showroom: Configured to be equally valuable for technicians, integrators, consultants and end users.

Whether selecting the right fibre product, learning about wireless networks or industrial networking options, even comparing surveillance analytics and video management software, OSA’s well stocked technology showroom is a valuable hands-on experience. The interactive experience extends beyond the showroom itself, with OSA Victoria’s online infrastructure having proven its value already with live online camera and analytics demonstrations, to and on behalf of clients.

Conference and training facilities: Designed with versatility and client support in mind, the new conference room with video conferencing functionality can be configured to suit operational requirements. Ranging from confidential, high level sales meetings hosted for clients, or as an in-house training centre for technical and tech sales training, the new conference room is a valuable facility and powerful tool in OSA’s customer service offering.

Upgraded service and engineering capabilities

To genuinely offer a value-add distribution service requires more than efficient box moving. It requires technical expertise, commitment to consistent and excellent service and it requires the facilities to support that commitment.

Sam Ford, Sales Engineer, says, “We’re now fortunate to have a large and well-appointed engineering lab to support our customers’ projects. We’re able to take different network scenarios, provide proof of concept testing and demonstrate a variety of networking solutions in real time.

Our engineering lab allows us to perform pre-staging tests for a broad range of customer and project applications, really highlighting our professional service offering.”

Sam adds, “The physical and network security of our new site is very important to government and enterprise organisations alike; we have the facilities to efficiently and effectively measure and manage the prestaging and testing process in a secure environment.”
